Power failures

Sir, — The residents of 2nd Block, R.T. Nagar, are facing hardship owing to frequent power failures.

No one has been able to explain these power failures and there appears no imminent remedy.

Can Bangalore Electricity Supply Company look into this problem and restore uninterrupted power supply in the area?

Kudos to KSRTC

Sir, — The Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) deserves to be complimented for providing many passenger-friendly services.

There has been a huge demand for Volvo Airavata AC buses and Mayura sleeper buses, which itself speaks volumes about the excellent class of service provided by KSRTC. It is good to know that this organisation has started e-ticket bookings also.

However, the information provided by the portal regarding the availability of buses to various destinations needs to be improved.

Incomplete asphalting

Sir, — Thanks to the Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike authorities for asphalting the narrow D. Rajagopal Road connecting Sanjay Nagar and Bellary Road near Ganganagar market, adjoining the peripheral wall of the headquarters of Indian Air Force.

However, a badly damaged portion of the road near the entrance from Bellary Road side has been left untouched.

This stretch warrants immediate repair. Accidents occur frequently on the approach road from Sanjaynagar to Bellary Road. We appeal to the authorities to immediately get the said portion of the road repaired and provide median between Ganganagar market and Ashwath Nagar Bus Stop.

Terrorism

Sir, — The annual report of the U.S. State Department has pointed out that India is among the countries worst hit by terrorism with over 2,000 deaths in 2007.

While the Western countries have been tightening their laws to tackle terrorism, unleashed by outfits such as Al Qaeda and Taliban in the aftermath of the 9/11 attack on the WTC in the U.S., the Indian Government has repealed POTA, the only law we had to keep terrorism under check.

V.V.S. Mani,
