Mala Mahanadu activist attempts suicide
Staff Reporter
Sangareddy: Mala Mahanadu Medak district vice-president created a flutter here on Sunday by climbing on Cellone tower near the new bus stand, threatening to jump unless his demands are met.
Shiva Prasad started throwing down hundreds of pamphlets demanding scrapping of the Usha Mehra Commission report and the efforts to classify Scheduled Castes. He shouted slogans in support of Karem Shivaji who is on a ‘fast unto death’ and against Madiga Dandora leader Manda Krishna.
Hundreds gathered to witness the first ever suicide attempt in a public place blocking the main road of the town.
However, Sub-Inspector of police Sridhar Reddy succeeded in convincing Shiva Prasad to climb down the tower. He was taken into custody later.
