TIRUCHI: All the inmates of the Tiruchi Central Prison were screened by a team of dentists during a special medical camp held in the prison premises recently. A total of 57 inmates found to be having visual defects and in need of spectacles during an eye screening camp conducted by the Joseph Eye Hospital in March were given free spectacles on the occasion. The function was jointly organised by the Tiruchi unit of the Prison Ministry India and the Joseph Eye Hospital on Wednesday. Speaking at the inauguration of the medical camp, the Deputy Inspector General of Prisons, Tiruchi range, B. M. Ezra, underlined the importance of maintaining good health. Chief Administrative Officer, Joseph Eye Hospital, Christopher assured regular eye screening camps for the prison inmates. The Superintendent of Tiruchi Central Prison, A. Murugesan, explained the various programmes being conducted for the overall transformation of the prisoners. Bro. Bernatsha, Bro. Manickam, Sister Savari and Jerald, all of Prison Ministry India also spoke. A team of dentists Balu Joseph, Nandakumar and Vijayakumar screened the prisoners. Mr. Ezra distributed the spectacles sponsored by the Joseph Eye Hospital.
