Annamacharya jayanti across the world

HYDERABAD: City-based Silicon Andhra (India) will celebrate the 600th jayanti of saint-composer Annamacharya (Annamayya) on May 17 for the first time at international level simultaneously across 15 countries, in coordination with the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD).

J. Chennayya, general secretary of the organisation, in a statement issued here on Sunday said, literary and cultural organisations in 40 centres had come forward to celebrate the event, with the main function being organised here.

Rally

The function will take off from TTD Kalyana Mandapam, Himayatnagar, when artistes, musicians and scholars will go in a rally to Annamayya’s statue on the Tank Bund.

Later, an Annamayya ‘sankeertana’ programme will be organised at Ravindra Bharati. Similar programmes are to be organised across the State. The Silicon Andhra (Cell: 99892-95939) could be contacted for details.
