Baby dies three days after vaccination

KULITHALAI: A four-month-old male baby died near here on Saturday three days after vaccination for DPT and Hepatitis B. While parents alleged that vaccination was the cause of death, officials from the Department of Health claimed that the child died due to acute renal failure following diarrhoea.

The actual cause can be ascertained only after the visceral analysis is done.

The child was vaccinated for DPT and Hepatitis B last Wednesday at the Lalapet Primary Health Centre. Brain, stomach with intestine, liver, kidney and vaccination site had been sent to the Annal Gandhi Memorial Government Hospital, Tiruchi, for forensic examination to determine the exact cause of death.
