Deputy Speaker boycotts Praja Patham
Special Correspondent
TIRUPATI: The Praja Patham now under way in all the constituencies of the State hit a road block in Vepanjeri constituency in Chittoor district represented in the Assembly by none other than Deputy Speaker G. Kuthuhalamma.
The Deputy Speaker who was besieged on the dais for over three hours on Saturday during the Praja Patham in her constituency on Sunday stayed away from the programme taking exception to the way in which three officials whom she named were allegedly adopting an ‘unhelpful attitude’ towards her in sanctioning Indiramma houses to the beneficiaries she had recommended.
She reportedly screamed at those who were not only trying to manipulate the list of the beneficiaries but were also making light of her warnings in this connection to the officials concerned.
Ms. Kuthuhalamma was forced to remain confined to her Praja Patham venue at Polavaram by a section of the villagers on Saturday taking objection to alleged bias by the officials concerned in sanctioning houses.
She criticised the officials for playing into the hands of her rival group in the mandal and trying to deliberately tinker with the list she had officially cleared.
