Celebrating laughter

Good exercise: Members of the Vijayawada Laughter Clubs break into loud guffaws at N. St. Mathews Public School in Vijayawada on Sunday. —
VIJAYAWADA: When did we last have a hearty laugh? That a good guffaw, a loud and boisterous laugh at least once a day can do miracles for one’s health is a known secret.
Lifestyle
Still, not many practise it. Blame it on the always-on-the-run lifestyle with very little scope for relaxation.
Lest this can lead to people forgetting the importance of laughter, the World Laughter Day is celebrated on the first Sunday of May every year.
Well, the very idea of dedicating a day for laughing may sound strange to some, but not to the active members of laughter clubs.
They converge on open grounds and morning walk tracks every Sunday, raise their hands and laugh to their heart’s content.
On this Sunday, however, it was not just their regular ‘exercise’. They assembled to celebrate the World Laughter Day and did so religiously by sharing some jokes among themselves and getting soaked in the rain of fun and humour.
The sprawling ground of N. St. Mathews Public School at Patamata reverberated with laughs of various kinds very early in the day.
