Delhi resident makes it to Limca Book of Records

Staff Reporter

NEW DELHI: Delhi-based Satish Kumar Solanki, who has the distinction of having translated the National Anthem into 34 languages, has been recognised by the coveted Limca Book of Records for his achievement.

Of these 34 languages, 12 are Indian and 22 foreign. The first translation was in Russian. Satish has also written the National Anthem in Braille script for the convenience of the visually challenged.

“I have translated the National Anthem into languages of various countries so that people abroad can know about our country’s diversity and cultural heritage. In this painstaking effort I have been assisted by foreign students living in the Capital,” says Satish, who has also penned a number of books, songs, articles and letters.

Earlier, Satish came into limelight after translating the Gayatri Mantra into a number of foreign languages in 2004. The East Delhi resident says he has drawn strength and inner happiness from the Gayanti Mantra. “When I was a mere six-year-old, my mother used to recite this spiritual mantra. I have worked hard to translate the mantra into different languages so that citizens of other countries could also benefit from it.”
