SEA OF BANGLES: Handicrafts on display at the Gujarat handicrafts and handloom exhibition at Women’s Association Hall, Kochi. KOCHI: The Gujarat Emporium, Kochi has organised a handicrafts and handloom exhibition at the Women’s Association Hall on Diwan’s Road, which will be on till May 18. The exhibition aims to ensure that both consumers and the craftsmen/weavers get a good deal, by avoiding middlemen. Jewellery items, colourful dresses, gift items, leather bags, purses, gloves, puppets made from cloth, wooden items, semi-precious stones, candle stands, saris, churidars, carpets etc from Gujarat and other States have been arrayed for sale. Handloom items have a 20 per cent Government rebate and handicrafts get a 10 per cent rebate. White-metal ornaments, chains and studs made from semi-precious stones, gaghra-choli, tie and dye salwar sets etc.,. are high in demand. Chanapatna toys, pooja items, acupressure treatment equipment and terracotta products are the other wares. Puppet shows and tribal music are there to entertain people. The products are priced from Rs.10 to Rs.10,000.
