S. Anuradha (23) of Periyar Nagar allegedly doused her nine-month-old daughter Dharanika with kerosene and set her afire. Later, she set herself afire. The incident happened at her residence. Both were rushed to the hospital where they succumbed to burns, police said.
In another incident, a 40-year old person, M. Murugesan of Natesan Nagar near Alankudi, allegedly committed self-immolation. Family dispute is said to have led to both incidents, police said.
