Thiruvananthapuram: The 17th State-level meeting of the All India Kisan Sabha will be held in the capital from May 7 to 10. Rallies were held in the district on Saturday and Sunday as a run-up to the meeting. A photo exhibition of various struggles and strikes led by farmers will be held at the Gandhi Park from May 6 to 10, which will be inaugurated by Deputy Speaker of the Assembly Jose Baby. Rallies will be kicked off from various places in the district on May 6. A flag rally will start from Ottasekaharamangalam, a banner rally from Irinjayam in Nedumangad and another from Kattayikonam, to join at Gandhi Park on May 7 at 6 p.m. ‘Koyththu pattu’ and ‘Poli melam’ will be held at Gandhi Park on May 7 evening. Forest Minister Benoy Viswom will inaugurate a meeting on ‘Kerala and its Farming Culture.’ Poet Sugathakumari will deliver the keynote address. Over 25,000 farmers are expected to take part in the rally which will start from Palayam at 3 p.m. on May 8. CPI State secretary Veliyam Bhargavan will address the public meeting at Putharikandam grounds. General secretary of the All India Kisan Sabha Atul Kumar Anjan will inaugurate the meet on May 9. A seminar on ‘Land Reforms Act and the Agriculture sector’ will be inaugurated by Chief Minister V.S. Achuthanandan.
