It’s last round for Ramayampet

Staff Reporter

Ramayampet Assembly segment lost it’s existence in the recent reorganisation of constituencies

SANGAREDDY: The Ramayampet Assembly segment in Medak district is going for polls for the last time. The Ramayampet Assembly segment which came into being in 1952 has lost its existence in the recent reorganization of constituencies as its constituent mandals have been attached to other Assembly segments. The Chegunta mandal has been attached to Dommata, Ramayampet and Chinnakodur to Medak and Yeldurty and Kolcharam to Narsapur Assembly segments. The Ramayampet segment which would have disintegrated into oblivion after 13th Assembly elections is once again in the lime light due to resignation of Telangana Rashtra Samithi legislator Padma Devender Reddy leading to byelections.

Women voters

The constituency which used to be a stronghold of the Congress has sent Tanguturi Anjaiah to the State Assembly who eventually became the Chief Minister of the State. Anjaiah won the elections from Ramayampet in 1981 and 1983. However the number of voters has increased compared to the 2004 elections. According to the data available with the district planning office another 2,461 voters joined the ranks to the existing number of 1,70,883 taking the total number of women voters to 89,291 from 88,106 and 84,053 men voters from 82,777. The women voters become crucial and the candidates are making sure to impress upon them.
