Man killed as vehicle runs over him

VILLUPURAM: A lorry driver was killed and the cleaner injured in a hit-and-run case at Thenbazaar in Mayilam block in the early hours on Monday.

The police said when the lorry was proceeding from Panruti to Chennai, one of its rear tyres got deflated.

While driver E. Kamalakannan (28), hailing from Abithanallur in Kancheepuram district, and cleaner K. Narendran (26) were replacing the tyre, an unidentified vehicle hit them and sped away. Kamalakannan died on the spot. The police have registered a case.
