Thousands lose jobs due to frequent power cuts: AIADMK

TIRUPUR: Blaming the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam Government for frequent power cuts, the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam has said that thousands of workers in small and medium industries have been losing jobs across the State due to acute shortage of electricity supply.

Speaking at a function after distributing identity cards to the members of young men and women wings of the party, its election wing secretary and former Minister Pollachi V. Jayaraman on Sunday said that the manufacturing and other industrial sectors had been facing difficulties to run their units for want of power.
People affected
Every other industry has been facing the problem and the entire Tamil Nadu had been undergoing unprecedented power cuts that affected people from all walks of life, he said.
He took a dig at the Electricity Minister, Arcot N. Veeraswami, for repeatedly asserting there was no power cuts in the State.
Response
Mr. Jayaraman said that there was an overwhelming response from young women and men for the call given by the former Chief Minister Jayalalithaa to join the party.
He said the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam Government had failed in curbing the price rise and maintaining law and order.
