Rs. 23.5 lakhs to be spent on augmenting facilities at GGH

State urged to sanction funds for MRI equipment Core panel to examine conditions at hospital
Kakinada: District Collector Gopalakrishna Dwivedi said a sum of Rs 23.25 lakh would be spent on augmenting facilities in the Government General Hospital (GGH), Kakinada in the next couple of months. The engineering section of SC Corporation will be the executing agency and works would be allotted through a short tender notice, he said at a review meeting on the functioning of GGH.
Mr. Dwivedi instructed the GGH authorities to inspect the condition of equipment once in a month and get any urgent repairs done without delay. For this purpose, annual maintenance contracts could be signed with manufacturers and suppliers. Similarly, obsolete equipment have to be replaced with new ones by complying with the procedures. The Collector ordered the GGH superintendent to immediately buy batteries needed for proper functioning of CT scanner, either from Mumbai or Chennai and, the State Government has been requested to sanction funds for purchasing an MRI scanning machine. To ensure cleanliness, the number of people coming to the hospital along with patients, might be restricted. A core committee has to be formed to examine this and other issues that affect sanitary conditions on the hospital premises.
