Notification for bypolls issued

VIZIANAGARAM: With the issue of notification on Monday by Returning Officer R. Tyagaraju for by-election to Therlam Assembly constituency the process for receiving nominations began at 11 a.m. at RO’s Office, Tehsildar’s Office in Therlam.
According to the notification, nominations will be received till May 12, scrutiny on the following day and withdrawals by 3 p.m. on May 15. Being ‘Amaavasya’ no one filed nomination on the first day.
The TDP candidate Tentu Lakshmi Naidu will file nomination papers at 1.45pm on Tuesday and the Lok Satta Party candidate Reddi Lakshmi Naidu before 11 a.m. on May 9.
The Congress has already decided not to contest for the seat as it fell vacant following the death of Tentu Jayaprakash of TDP.
Meanwhile, the police machinery is beefing up security at Therlam for the filing of nominations.
A police picket is being set up about 100 meters away from Tehsildar’s Office to check untoward incidents. As per the directive not more than five persons would be allowed inside to file papers.
