PUDUCHERRY: A five-day-old male baby was found missing from the premises of the Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research on May 3. According to the police, Geetha (28), from Villupuram district, delivered a male child on April 28. However, Ms. Geetha developed complications on May 3 and was taken to the operation theatre at 4 p.m. Her mother Lakshmi waited outside the operation theatre. A woman, in her early twenties, volunteered to take care of the child, police said. “It was only after 8 p.m. that she went around looking for the baby. She could not find the woman and realised that she had absconded,” they added.
