Creating awareness about midwifery

With a specific aim: Members of the Midwives Associations of KLE Society’s Institute of Nursing Sciences and Bharatesh College of Nursing Sciences taking out a rally in Belgaum on Monday.

Belgaum: Members of the Midwives Associations of KLE Society’s Institute of Nursing Sciences and Bharatesh College of Nursing Sciences took out an awareness rally here, on the occasion of International Midwives Day on Monday.

The rally was organised by the Belgaum Chapter of Society of Midwives, India.

The objective of the rally was to create awareness and promote the profession of midwifery. Along with office-bearers of the society’s Belgaum Chapter, staff and students of both the nursing colleges and those of the Tukar School of Nursing participated in the rally.

A spokesperson of the society said here that the World Health Organisation (WHO) recognised midwives as “health professionals” who could deliver safe and cost-effective maternity services.
