Official held for taking bribe
CHENNAI: Officials of the Anti-Corruption Branch of the CBI, Chennai, on Monday arrested M.C. Gupta, Deputy Registrar, Trademarks, Intellectual Property Rights Appellate Board, Chennai, on charges of demanding and taking bribe from an advocate.
CBI authorities said advocate C. Daniel had approached Mr. Gupta for clearing his papers pertaining to trademark, which were pending with the official, who allegedly demanded and took Rs.10,000 for completing the work, when he was arrested.
He has been remanded to custody. — Special Correspondent
