JAIPUR: The bumper arrival of wheat in the Kota City mandi of Rajasthan has pushed the authorities to make arrangements for storage and timely payment of the minimum support price to farmers. The Food Corporation of India has made special provisions for lifting the wheat sacks and transporting them to godowns. Parliamentary Secretary Bhawani Singh Rajawat reviewed the arrangements at the mandi – the biggest in the State – over the weekend and instructed the FCI and Mandi Samiti officials to ensure that no inconvenience was caused to the farmers bringing their produce for sale. Mr. Rajawat said the district administration had identified the warehouses for stockpiling of 8,500 metric tonnes of wheat, while the FCI would ensure prompt lifting of about 2 lakh wheat sacks piled up in the mandi. Mr. Rajawat asked the Mandi Secretary, Divakar Dadhich, to ensure that the minimum support price was paid to all the wheat growers.
