Land survey to be over soon
Special Correspondent
TAMBARAM: The Revenue Department is expected to complete the survey of lands that fall within 100 metres from Indian Air Force Station’s periphery in Tambaram. A meeting among representatives of civic groups in Tambaram, Selaiyur, Madambakkam and other areas around the IAF base and officials of the Tambaram Taluk office was held recently.
The meeting, according to the officials, was convened as per the instructions of the State government to listen to the grievances of the people living around the IAF Base in Tambaram. Members of Tambaram Air Force Station Surrounding Areas Affected Residents Welfare Association said that a Defence Ministry notification in 1903 had imposed restrictions on construction activity within 900 metres from any installation of IAF.
Even to build housesa ‘No Objection Certificate’ has to be obtained.
