Process for by-elections in Andhra Pradesh begins

HYDERABAD: The formal process for byelections to four Loka Sabha and 18 Assembly seats in the State that fell vacant, began on Monday with the Election Commission and State election authorities issuing the necessary notifications calling for nominations from contestant to fill the vacancies.
On the first day, only three nominations were filed, two for Secunerabad and on3e for Kamalapur Assembly constituencies. Candidates shied away from filing the nominations, as the day happened to an Amavasya day.
The Lok Sabha seats for which the notifications were issued were Adilabad, Karimnagar, Hanamkonda and waranal.
All of them fell vacant following resigning of the sitting members all belonging to the Telangana Rashtra Samithi over the issue of the formation of Telangana State. The vacancy of 16 out of the 18 Assembly seats was caused similarly by resignation of the sitting TRS members, and the remaining of two--Terlam and Khairatabad—following demise of the sitting members.
The 16 seats that fell vacant were: Jadcherla, Vicarabadm Reserved for Scs), Musheerabad, Secunebead, Siddpet, Diommat, Ramayampet, tyellareddy, Dichpalli, Khanapur (ST), Myadaram (SC(, Huzrabad, Kamalapur, Cherial, Ghanpur (SC) and ASlair (SC).
