8 child marriages prevented in Kota

Kota: Eight child marriages were prevented from being solemnised following a raid on a mass wedding conducted by a Muslim organisation in this town of Rajasthan, an official said on Monday.

Hadauti Jamiyatul Mansoorian Committee had organised the mass marriage ceremony of 42 couples at a school complex in Gumanpura locality, he said.

He said Women’s and Child Welfare Department sleuths raided the place on Sunday after being informed that eight of the couples were minors. An FIR has been lodged at the Gumanpura police station and a probe begun to ascertain details of the wedding. — PTI
