This Day That Age
Mr. Hans Christian Hansen, Danish Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, at the three-day 15-nation NATO conference in Copenhagen on May 5, said that “there can be no doubt about the willingness and readiness of the West to negotiate with the East. We would obviously be shirking our responsibilities to the peoples of our countries if we did not examine all the existing possibilities to achieve a decrease in tension. The task before us is immeasurably great, but this should not make us too pessimistic. The unity between the peoples of the West, which NATO has managed to develop, is in itself a step, the importance of which should not be underestimated.”
