This Day That Age
An appeal to the Government of India to consider the question of convening a conference of all Asian and African nations to explore the possibilities of closer economic collaboration among themselves, was made in New Delhi on May 4 by Mr. Murarji Vaidya, president of the Indian Council of Foreign Trade, in the course of his presidential address to the fifth annual meeting of the council. This collaboration was necessary to offset the disadvantages accruing as a result of the formation of the European Common Market. Mr. Murarji Vaidya said the trend in regard to the ECM showed that it was contemplated to include in the scheme not only the metropolitan countries of Western Europe but even the colonial or associated countries of Central and North Africa.
