CHENNAI: Deccan Chargers’ skipper V.V.S. Laxman was confident that his side would play to its potential against Chennai Super Kings on Tuesday. “We will focus on our game, and will look to do the right things. We will go out and play to our potential, and not worry about Chennai,” said Laxman. Having lost five out of its six matches, Laxman said Chargers would look to come back strongly. “The team composition is good. We’ve had three close games which could have gone either way, but we unfortunately lost. We will look to perform much better in the rest of the matches.” On the option of opening the batting with Shahid Afridi, he said, “We have worked out various combinations. The current opening partnership is going well for us, but we will analyse and decide what role to give Shahid.” Trying hardThe Hyderabad side, despite a number of proven international match-winners, has come up with underwhelming performances. “We have a number of great players in the squad and they don’t need to be told what to do. They are all trying very hard and understand their responsibilities. It’s very unfortunate that the results haven’t come. We need a performance like the one Adam (Gilchrist) came up with against Mumbai,” said Laxman. On the experience of captaining the side, he said, “It’s been challenging, but I’m enjoying it. We’re gelling very well as a side. The international players are going out of their way to mix with the domestic youngsters. The team bonding has been excellent.”
