Bullock carts seized for quarrying

Stern action against unauthorised mining in the Vellar will be taken



ON THE WRONG SIDE: The bullock carts which were seized at Pudukottai for illegal mining of sand from the Vellar near Pudukottai on Monday.

PUDUKOTTAI: In a surprise raid, revenue officials seized 29 bullock carts used for illegal quarrying of river sand from the banks of the Vellar near here on Monday.

Special teams led by tahsildars and other officials raided the Tirumayam-Pudukottai Road and seized the carts.

According to revenue officials, stern action would be taken against unauthorised quarrying.

Later, Revenue Divisional Officer T. Mohan and Superintendent of Police P. Moorthy inspected the carts.
