A. Amrith Raj, a student of Arockiamatha Matriculation Higher Secondary School, Karumandapam, was part of the Indian team that won the title in the Indo-Sri Lanka bilateral throwball test series for sub-junior girls, held in Chennai recently. Amrith Raj came up with some good performance in the series to help India clinch the title.

Bishop of Tiruchi Diocese Rev. Fr. Antony Devotta, Principal Rev. Fr. Baskaran and the school staff commended the efforts of the youngster.

The Annual Day of KAP Viswanatham Elementary School, Thillai Nagar, was celebrated recently. Corporation Commissioner T.T. Balsamy was the chief guest. President of the school governing committee V. Jeyapal presided. Mr. Balsamy gave away prizes to students, who excelled in academics and other extra-curricular activities. Correspondent C. Kesavaraj spoke. Headmistress N. Nirmala read the annual report.

Various cultural programmes by students enthralled the audience.

A large number of school students took part in a 15-day hockey summer coaching camp, which concluded in the city recently. The camp, conducted by the Tiruchi District Hockey Association (TDHA), aimed at training the youngsters on the finer nuances of the game. At the valediction, former General Manager of Sports Development Authority of Tamil Nadu (SDAT) R. Mohan gave away certificates to the participants.

TDHA secretary P. Khadar Mohideen, vice-president Ravi J. Dhanraj, Regional Senior Manager of Tiruchi unit of SDAT N. Sundaram and District Sports Officer C. Punniyamoorthy were present.

The Annual Day of the Thudaiyur Panchayat Union Middle School was celebrated recently. Headmaster A.S. Samson Dhanraj, who attained superannuation at the end of the academic year, was honoured on the occasion.

Village Education Committee president T. T. C. Sekaran, PTA president Aalalasundaram and Additional Assistant Elementary Education Officer Kannan gave away prizes to students.

Assistant Headmistress Revathi, Headmistress of Sirugambur Panchayat Union Elementary School Babyrani and Manachanallur Assistant Elementary Education Officer Vasuki felicitated Mr. Dhanraj.

Assistant Headmaster Aloysius Amalraj spoke. Variety programmes by the students enthralled the audience.
