CET results to go hi-tech

Deepa Kurup

BANGALORE: Apart from creating a record in releasing the second Pre-University (PU) course results in a month, the PU board also went hi-tech with SMS and mobile phone hotlines and posting its results on 11 websites. Even the SSLC Board had followed suit. The same trend would be maintained with the Common Entrance Test (CET) results scheduled to be released on May 14, said S.G. Hegde, PU Commissioner and Special Officer, Karnataka Examinations Authority.

PU results were made available on select BSNL lines last year. This time, the Department of PU Education widened its frontiers by entering into collaboration with service providers such as Airtel and Vodafone, to increase access to students.

Apart from the official websites, nine other web portals were given access to the results. User inboxes were inundated with messages all day informing students of helplines and services that they can use to access their results. “We usually find that that servers get busy, which increases anxiety levels among students. It is a part of our measure to make the entire process student-friendly. Which is why we did not limit it to our own websites and hotlines,” Mr. Hegde told The Hindu.

The same measures will be implemented when the CET results are announced, he added.
