Poll officials overactive, says Kharge

GULBARGA: Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee president M. Mallikarjun Kharge on Monday did not hide his annoyance over the action of the election officials in booking cases against political parties and candidates for alleged violation of the model code of conduct.

“There have been instances of election authorities being overactive,” he told a press conference.

Referring to the seizure of five vehicles near the venue of the workers convention at Chitapur, Mr. Kharge said officers should have used their discretionary powers to decide whether there was any violation or not
