NEW DELHI: Harshal Shahi scored an important victory over second seed Hetul Shah to emerge as the sole leader after the 10th and penultimate round of the Parsvnath National under-9 chess championship at the Bapu Samaj Sewa Kendra here on Monday. Harshal’s 47-move victory in Ruy Lopez raised his tally to nine points. He is half-a-point ahead of Tamil Nadu’s Jerome Jorge Ebenezer. The boys will meet in the final round to decide the winner. Among the girls, overnight leader Kerala’s C.H. Meghna drew with Tamil Nadu’s R. Manjula to stay ahead of the field. She has 8.5 points and needs only a draw in the final round to take the title.
