Sangareddy: Medak district Collector speaking at the executive meeting of the EMRI in his chambers here on Tuesday announced that the Red cross society would help the emergency service provider by providing essential equipment helpful in extricating accident victims from wreckage. Responding to the request of the EMRI representatives the Collector spoke to the general manager of Medak BSNL and asked him to rectify the signal problem in Narayankhed area particularly during the evening hours. The Medak Superintendent of Police Mohammad Iqbal assured the EMRI men that efforts would be made to send a constable along with the accident victims while shifting them to the hospital. He said that most of the vehicles belonging to the neighbouring Maharashtra and Karnataka States ply without speed locks posing threat to other vehicles. He informed that the district would receive another ten ambulances in addition to the 18 already working by June. According to the data given by the EMRI over 4,791 lives were saved in the month of April this year compared to that of last year’s 258. While 27 per cent of the services are used for emergency medical care, road accident take 13 per cent, pregnant women 7 per cent, poisonous and household violence use 8 per cent.
