Delivering the graduation address at Dr. N.G.P College of Education, he said a teacher should be a source of information, guide, mentor, surrogate parent and motivator at the same time. The role of a teacher in the changing social scenario had become very challenging. Teaching was the only profession that dealt with the citizens of the future. In this day and age, it was important to maintain and nurture values. Hence, teachers should inculcate values in children. QualitiesThey should also teach them qualities such as optimism, motivation, and non-violence, he said. The teacher should give the students education that would facilitate personality development allowing a harmonious growth of all the faculties inherent in the individual.
