PUDUCHERRY: Chief Minister N.Rangasamy on Tuesday said that the Union Territory would have a new guest house in New Delhi as the present one was cramped. Replying to the debate on demands, he told the Assembly that he had written to the Chief Minister of Delhi seeking a larger site. The government would increase the wages of handloom weavers by 16 per cent with effect from May 15, 2007 as it had been done in Kurinjipadi in Tamil Nadu. Amendments would be made to the pension policy for journalists to extend the benefit to all eligible newspersons. The government would increase the funeral expenditure in the case of death of the freedom fighters to Rs.3,000 from Rs.2,000. Bill passedThe Appropriation Bill 2008 moved by him was passed.
