Telangana is not about sentiment alone: Gadar

Inspired: Gadar coming out after watching the movie in Hyderabad.

HYDERABAD: Revolutionary balladeer Gadar on Tuesday said Telangana was not just about sentiment as most political parties were making it out to be.

“It is about land, water and people and an issue that is a cause for concern at the national level”, he told presspersons after watching ‘Bathukamma’, a film that tries to passionately showcase the problems of Telangana over five decades. The film hit the marquee on May 1 and the makers invited Mr. Gadar and members of the Telangana Writers Association to see the film at Venkatesa Theatre and proffer their reactions. The balladeer said the Telangana issue was also about denial of water to an already backward region, mining of precious natural resources and of fake encounters too.

The film came at an important juncture and with bypolls around the corner, it would serve as an eye-opener to people, he said. It was produced by M. Chandrasekhar Rao and P. Ramamohan Rao.
