Hyderabad: Coastal Andhra was in the grip of a “severe heat wave” on Tuesday following dry westerly winds blowing from the dry regions of the North. Nellore recorded a day temperature of 45 degrees Celsius. The severity will continue in the region for a few more days, a forecast issued by the State Met Office said. Except for light rain at Kakinada, weather continued to be dry all over the State. Sweltering heatNellore staff reporter adds: Denizens of Nellore district continued to feel the summer heat for another day on Tuesday with the mercury settling at a maximum of 44.6 degree Celsius, the season’s hottest day so far. The mercury had gone past the 40-degree mark for the first time on April 20 when it touched 41.5 degree Celsius. Tuesday’s maximum is three to four notches above the normal. There seems to be no respite for the district with the weatherman predicting a further rise in daytime temperatures. A senior revenue official quoting the Met Department predictions said that the next two to three days would be very hot. Meanwhile, people in the district preferred to remain indoors . Streets including wore a deserted look .
