DMRC warns people against fake job offers

Staff Reporter

Seeks police help, spells out recruitment procedure

“All appointments are notified on the official website”

“Selections done through competitive exam, interview”

NEW DELHI: With an increasing number of people turning up at its doors with fake appointment letters in hand, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation has decided to spell out the details of its recruiting process.

Alarmed by the cases of fake appointments made on its behalf, the Corporation has sought the help of the Delhi police and is also advertising in the media to warn people against conmen promising them jobs at DMRC.

According to DMRC officials, more than a dozen cases of false and fraud appointments have been detected so far. “Some unscrupulous persons have been issuing false appointment letters to aspiring job seekers as engineers, customer care staff and office assistants, etc, in DMRC. These persons were informed by DMRC that the appointment letter issued to them are fake, and have not been issued by DMRC when they came to join the organisation,” said DMRC spokesperson Anuj Dayal.

Cautioning people against such fake appointments, Mr. Dayal said: “All appointments are notified on the official website www.delhimetrorail.com in the careers section. All letters of appointment are issued by the Chief Personnel Officer for appointments related to the project wing of DMRC while the Joint General Manager (Recruitment and Training) and the Senior Personnel Officer issue appointment letters connected to the operations and maintenance of wing of DMRC.”

Selections to the Delhi metro are done through a process of competitive examination conducted by DMRC followed by an interview and a medical test.

“All candidates should check the DMRC website for authenticity of any appointment offer given to them by anybody in India,” Mr. Dayal said.

More than 15 cases of fake appointments have been registered with the police since 2003 and DMRC has also issued advertisements warning people against such fraudulent appointments.

This past March, an FIR was lodged with the Shastri Park metro police station by a person who was given a fake appointment letter for the post of engineer in DMRC. Mukesh belongs to Budh Vihar and the case is in process.

“In the latest case of a fake appointment, a person was given a letter as a token collector in DMRC and asked to join on May 4,” said Mr. Dayal.
