Police told to close Xerox shops near exam centres RTC to run special buses from different places Kakinada: The EAMCET – 2008 will be conducted at 33 centres (engineering 27 and medicine 6) in Kakinada region on May 8. Necessary arrangements have been made to ensure smooth conduct of the examination, said JNTU Engineering College Principal and EAMCET Regional Coordinator EV Prasad. Addressing a press conference here on Tuesday, Mr. Prasad said the number of centres has increased from 22 last year to 27. The number of students opting Kakinada to write the examination has also gone up. A total of 15,232 students (engineering 12,332 and medicine 2,900) are appearing in this year’s EAMCET. The test for engineering will be conducted from 10 a.m to 1 p.m and medicine from 2.30 p.m to 5.30 p.m. Duplicate hall ticketsDuplicate hall tickets can be downloaded from the website www.apeamcet.org or they can be obtained from the EAMCET Kakinada regional centre on JNTU Engineering College premises till 5 p.m of May 7 by furnishing the application number of registration number. Mr. Prasad said the candidates would not be allowed into the test centres after 10 a.m for engineering and 2.30 p.m for medicine. The candidates will not be allowed to leave before the end of the examination. Cell phones, calculators, pagers and any other devices will not be permitted inside. The police have been asked to ensure that xerox shops in the vicinity of the examination centres are closed to prevent any malpractice. Similarly, the Police Department was requested to deploy adequate number of police personnel near the examination centres to maintain law and order. The APSRTC has consented to operate special buses from different parts of the district to the examination centres in Kakinada region.
