Job workers seek wage revision
Staff Reporter
COIMBATORE: Job working powerloom units at nine places in the district have decided to finalise their demands on wage revision before May 20 and submit a common memorandum to the cloth traders.
A meeting of the weavers of the nine clusters was held at Somanur on Tuesday.
These clusters have about 1.5 lakh looms. With various costs going up for the powerloom units, the job workers are demanding a revision of wages paid to them by the master weavers.
The local associations will decide their demands and a joint meting will be held on May 21 at Somanur. The powerlooms will continue to function till then and the future course of action will be decided after May 21, according to Era. Velusamy, a powerloom job worker in Palladam.
