Tricycles given to 49 disabled persons

NAGAPATTINAM: The Disabled Rehabilitation Department in the district has provided tricycles costing Rs.1.79 lakh to 49 disabled persons free of cost at a function here on Tuesday.

Tenkasi S. Jawahar, Collector, who distributed the tricycles to the disabled, said that the Government was according top priority for providing immediate assistance to the disabled.

He pointed out that the department that scrutinised the applications received from the disabled found 49 persons eligible to receive the tricycles. Besides, two physically challenged were given wheel-chairs.

Interview on May 12

The Collector said that another interview would be conducted on May 12 for selecting the eligible beneficiaries to receive tricycles in the second phase.

S. Yamunabai, District Disabled Rehabilitation Officer, Nagapattinam, said that the department had been assisting the disabled to the maximum limit in the district.
