Major fire averted

KHAMMAM: Timely action averted a major fire near the Agriculture Market yard in the town on Tuesday.

Some 15 bags of chilli were reduced to ashes as a small private store room abutting the market yard caught around 11 am. The fires tenders reached the spot promptly and put out the flames.

The officials said that flames from the kitchen of a nearby hotel sparked the fire. The fire tenders which rushed to the place promptly, could minimise loss as the store room had a brick wall around separating it from the market yard which was packed with the huge arrivals in the day. A team of officials led by the Manal revenue officer, Saidaih visited the place and took stock of the damage.
