Cut down newsprint price: Chief Minister

Thiruvananthapuram: Chief Minister V.S. Achuthanandan has asked Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to take immediate steps to bring down the price of newsprint. In a letter to the Prime Minister on Tuesday, Mr. Achuthanandan pointed out that the high price of newsprint had landed the newspaper industry in general and the language newspapers in particular in severe crisis. Those connected with the industry had informed him that if the prices were not rolled back many newspapers would have to be closed down. — Special Correspondent
