REGAL HONOUR: King’s XI Punjab’s Irfan Pathan, Kumar Sangakkara, skipper Yuvraj Singh, James Hopes, S. Sreesanth and Shaun Marsh pose with the traditional Mysore Peta and shawl presented to them. Bangalore: A day after defeating Royal Challengers Bangalore by six wickets, a clutch of players from Kings XI Punjab including skipper Yuvraj Singh, spent some time interacting with a select group of under-16 cricketers in a ‘Chota Champions meet Kings XI’ event organised by Spice Telecom at the KSCA (B) Ground here on Tuesday afternoon. Yuvraj along with Irfan Pathan, Sreesanth, Kumar Sangakkara, James Hopes and Shaun Marsh were also honoured with the traditional ‘Mysore Peta’ and shawl. Later, Pathan and Sreesanth bowled some gentle seamers to the group of ten players who were selected from a larger pool. ”If I am your age I would be excited and would have constantly questioned the cricketers present here. For these kids, it’s a nice opportunity to learn from us,” said Yuvraj before presenting mementoes to the selected players. The afternoon however ended on a sour note for the media as the scheduled press conference never happened and the players were cordoned off. A company official meanwhile said that “the players are tired and they cannot take any questions.” — Principal Correspondent
