U.S. national moves HC for release of passport

Staff Reporter

BANGALORE: An American citizen accused of attempting to rape a British national in a five-star hotel in Bangalore last month petitioned the Karnataka High Court on Tuesday for release of his passport, which he claimed had been impounded by the Bangalore police. James Larry Alford of Enterprises Electronics Corporation, U.S., who is accused by the High Grounds police of attempting to rape Anita, said he had been granted conditional bail last week by a Fast Track Court, Bangalore. The State said Mr. Alford could move any application for release of his passport before the jurisdictional court and there is no need for him to come to the High Court. Justice A.S. Pachhapure adjourned further hearing on the case.
