City boy wins karting championships

Over 50 Asian drivers take part in the events

HYDERABAD: City lad Akhil Khushlani won laurels for Hyderabad when he won two titles in karting championships organised in Coimbatore on Sunday last.

The 18-year-old Hyderabadi won the Rotax Asian Karting Championship Round 2 and the Indian National Rotax Championship Round 1.

Akhil made a cracking getaway from start to finish and was the first in all the laps. More than 50 drivers from Asia participated in the two championships where every driver had to race two heats of 15 laps each, a pre-final of 20 laps and a final of 25 laps.

Tight finish

Akhil won a nail biting finish enthralling the crowds. The second position went to Miko Nasi of Finland and third to Ooi Fei Hoong of Malaysia.
