MADURAI: An association of all Chief Educational Officers (CEO) and District Educational Officers (DEO) was formed at a meeting held in Chennai on May 4. The State-level officer-bearers of ‘Tamizhaga CEO/DEO Association’ are: T. Periyasamy (president), CEO, Pudukottai; N. Ammayappan (secretary), DEO (Melur educational district- Madurai); and T. Rajendran (treasurer), District Elementary Education Officer, Coimbatore. Pon. Kumar, Karur CEO, is the association’s organising secretary. Mr. Ammayappan told reporters here on Tuesday that the office-bearers had met Minister for School Education Thangam Thennarasu and appreciated the State Government for its proposal to introduce ‘Samacheer Kalvi’ and school fee waiver. He said that the association’s demands were placed before the Minister. It urged the Government to provide vehicles for all DEOs and CEOs heading Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan. An appeal was made to provide laptop computers and residential quarters to educational officers of all districts, he said. The association called for an increase in remuneration for valuation of answer scripts and a School Education Department guest house in Chennai for the convenience of department staff visiting Chennai to attend meetings.
