All government offices to be cleaned on May 13 Compulsory implementation in lower level offices KOCHI: All State government offices in the district will be cleaned on May 13 as apart of the pre-monsoon sanitation programme to be launched across the State on Friday. District Collector M. Beena has directed convening of department-level meetings to draw up an action plan for effective implementation of the scheme in the district. Dr. Beena was addressing a meeting held at the district Collectorate on Tuesday to discuss the steps to be taken in connection with the sanitation drive. Given chargeShe also said that steps should be taken to ensure compulsory implementation of the scheme in lower level offices as well. The meeting entrusted six officers with cleaning six floors of the Collectorate. The District Treasury Officer has been given charge of the ground floor. The Additional District Magistrate will supervise the cleaning of the first floor, while the Regional Transport Officer has been given charge of the second floor. The Project Director of the Poverty Alleviation Unit will look after the cleaning of the third floor and the Principal Agriculture Officer will be in-charge of the fourth floor. The Employment Officer will coordinate the cleaning activities in the fifth floor. Besides, different departments have been entrusted with the cleaning of the Collectorate premises. As part of the intense sanitation drive lasting till May 15, bus stands, railway stations and pilgrimage centres would be cleaned on May 9, while household visits and eradication of mosquito sources would be held on May 10 and 11. SchoolsHealth centres and schools would be cleaned on May 12, public sector organisations on May 13, water bodies and drains on May 14. Shops, hotelsPrivate organisations, shops, establishments, hotels and public places would be sanitised on May 15. N. Vinodini, district coordinator of the total sanitation campaign, and other district-level officials participated in the meeting.
