Police crack down on its office in Chennai on charge of ‘defrauding’ customers Telugu film actor Chandra Mohan’s wife was running the company’s Hyderabad office HYDERABAD: Even as the Chennai police cracked down on the Gold Quest International Private Limited office on charge of ‘defrauding’ customers, its Hyderabad office remained locked for the past three days here. Several Telugu film industry workers, including junior artistes and noted stars, reportedly invested money in the company accused of multi-level marketing irregularities. The company used to mint gold coins of numismatic value. A customer wishing to become the company members is supposed to buy the coin for Rs. 24,000 and introduce two more members. If the chain of introducing members continues, the customer would get regular monetary commission. Trouble started in Chennai when some customers complained that the company failed to give them the promised gold coins. Telugu film actor Chandra Mohan, whose wife Jalandhara was running the company’s Hyderabad office at Himayathnagar, speaking to reporters on Tuesday said the company had not cheated anyone. He defended the company’s transactions stating that no criminal case was booked against it in Hyderabad so far. Interestingly, the company office located in Himayathnagar remained locked since its Chennai office was raided three days ago. The security guard at the Towers building told mediapersons that training classes used to be conducted for the Gold Quest company staff now and then. However, none had visited the office for the past three days. The Narayanaguda police said that they did not receive any complaint against the company so far.
