ACGWA registers victory

HYDERABAD: AC Guards Welfare Association scored a 2-0 win over AC Guards XI in the A-2 division hockey league championship here on Tuesday. Amir put ACGWA ahead in the 18th minute when he dribbled his way into the striking zone from the right flank before essaying a delectable shot past the advancing goalkeeper. Within two minutes, winger Hamid bin Abdullah also found the target.

Athletics trials

Hyderabad District Athletics Association will organise district youth athletics trials for boys and girls (under-18 years) at Osmania University on May 9 from 3.00 p.m. The district team to take part in the AP state meet to be held in Warangal from May 11 will be picked here. Cricket tournament

Boston Mission School (Kalapather), in association with Sports Coaching Foundation (Masab Tank) will organise the Boston Cup floodlit cricket tournament in the u-12, u-13 and u-15 categories from May 7 at SCF grounds.

Handball camps

The Visakhapatnam District Handball Association is organising summer coaching camps at 10 centres in the city in association with the Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation from May 7, from 6.30 a.m. to 8 a.m. every day for one month.

Teams from each centre would be picked up for the Mayor’s Cup tournament to be held at the end of the camp, said Secretary of the association S. Raja Rao. Interested may call 93932 42460.

Fort Union FC in final

Fort Union FC sailed into the final of Bhupathi Raju Memorial football tournament, beating Attili Suribabu Memorial FC 4-0 in the first semifinal at the GVMC Stadium in Visakhapatnam on Tuesday.

Murali opened the account in the 20th minute. Raja scored a brace, the first goal coming three minutes after the breather and the second five minutes later. Gana completed the tally with a goal a few minutes before the long whistle.

The final is slated for May 8 and FU FC meets the winner of second semifinal between City Police and Visakhapatnam Port Sports Council on Wednesday.

Cricket camp

The Vizianagaram District Cricket Association will organise a summer coaching camp for women at the Vizzy Stadium, Vizianagaram, from May 10 to 30. Interested can register at the venue on May 10 by producing age and study certificates.
