Material worth Rs. 2 lakh destroyed

Gutted: Fire and Emergency Services personnel dousing the fire at a godown on Cunningham Road in Bangalore on Tuesday. .

BANGALORE: A fire broke out in a furniture godown on Cunningham Road on Tuesday. Three fire engines and “Agni” motorcycles were deployed to douse the fire.

The Fire and Emergency Services personnel said the fire broke out in “Maharaja Furniture and Carpets” at about 4.30 p.m.

They said the fire might have been caused by a short circuit. They put out the fire in about two hours. Furniture and other material worth about Rs. 2 lakh were gutted. A case has been registered.

Broken into

A four-member gang broke into a farmhouse at Nellurhalli in Whitefield on Tuesday and made away with Rs. 80,000 in cash, a mobile phone and a car. The police said that the intruders broke into the farmhouse early in the morning and tied up M.V. Moss, a retired civil engineer, and his wife.

The couple was rescued by some workmen later in the morning.
